Start at the Beginning...

I have loved taking pictures since I was a child. I have been late to appointments because I stopped to take a picture. I wish I had a dollar for every eye roll my children gave me over taking a picture. But I was only snapping pictures...about a year and a half ago...I got serious about being a photographer. I started studying the science of it. I began to study the great photographers. In short, I stopped taking snapshots and began really taking photographs.  That was the genesis of this website. I hope you enjoy looking at the images here. I have loved taking every one of them. I shoot with a Canon DSLR and my iPhone. Both are exceptional tools for photography.

In this blog, I will offer my insight into photography and hopefully share some "how to" tips that I have learned. Not because I am an expert...but because I have learned from a lot of mistakes. I will tell you about my camera settings for particular photographs and how I took them. I will talk about selecting subjects and how I made my shots work. I hope to pass along something I have learned so that you can try some new things. I said I shoot with a Canon. It is a 5DS. It is an amazing piece of technology. And the iPhone is also amazing for the quality of the images it creates and the serious editing that is possible. But the first piece of advice: The greatest camera...is the one with you. You don't need a professional body and lens to make great photographs. Just get out there and shoot! Use what you have. Really learn to use it. BUT...have fun and enjoy every image you create!

Thanks again for stopping by...come back again soon.
